Someone has said if you let someone talk long enough he will reveal his true character.
People know us by the things we say. Our words reveal very quickly the kind of person
we are. One of God’s great commandments tells us that we should not bear false witness
against our neighbor. But what usually happens when a person begins to talk too much,
the conversation so many times turns to talking about someone. Folks, our words either
bless us or condemn us. I mean our words can be a tool in which we honor God or we
curse God. You ever heard this statement? If you don’t have something good to say
about someone then just be quiet. Maybe that’s not such a bad idea. If we can’t speak
well about something or someone we just hold our peace. I know personally that my
words have gotten me in trouble at times and I have found it hard to eat my words.
Mama said many times as we were growing up, you're going to eat those words one day.
Well she was right and they are hard to swallow sometimes. So Lord help me to be slow
to speak, but quick to hear, and use my words to bless.
